ivision Scale, LLC d/b/a ivision names Eric Aslaksen to Chief Technology Officer
Company Expands Leadership Team and Aligns Organization for Future Growth
ATLANTA, May 15, 2014 – Aslaksen steps into CTO role for ivision replacing Stuart Cartin. Eric’s commitment to engineering excellence and his client centric orientation is at the core of why Eric is the right person for the job, says Chief Executive Officer Gabe Damiani. Eric’s character, technical prowess and ability to build relationships with customers all factored into the decision to make him the first company employee to move into the executive ranks. “He’s one of those rare people who can meld the business and technology together,” Gabe says.
As CTO, Eric’s job is to align technology-related decisions with ivision’s long-term priorities. His goal is to ensure ivision’s stellar team of technologists have what they need to do their best work. One thing they need is structure, but creating order is a task Eric approaches with caution. Structure is needed for a company that has grown as rapidly as ivision (during one 24-month stretch, revenue rose 338 percent). But Eric says it can’t come at the expense of the start-up spirit that makes ivision special. His immediate focus for the next few months is to further align our technology solutions into a reference architecture that codifies what ivision knows and what it does — i.e., documentation, standards, and communication. That encompasses everything from creating a forum for thought leadership, incubation of solutions and building solution frameworks that integrate with the company’s reference architecture that are extensible and scalable.
From his earliest days with ivision, back in 2008, Eric created value for the company and for clients. He helped drive a global technology refresh at a major law firm in Atlanta, establishing a bond with an important client that continues to this day. He helped develop a proactive monitoring management system that ensured online video from the 2010 Winter Olympics — and later college basketball’s Final Four tournament — streamed smoothly. The system set a new standard for Microsoft and became a major proof point for ivision’s future sales.
Eric moved up in the company, rising from consultant to data center manager (the company’s first) to director of engineering to senior director of engineering and support. In every position, he exhibited skill, dedication and grace under pressure. “He’s a prime example of how a cool head, intelligence and persistence prevail,” Gabe says.
Eric has spent the last 17 years of his IT career working for enterprise sized companies including AT&T, BellSouth, SunTrust, and Capgemini. This experience has allowed Eric to understand the requirements for standardized processes, policies, and procedures needed to lead the ivision engineering teams and provide practical application of technologies that future proof our clients’ infrastructures. Eric has been awarded multiple patents for software development and product innovation while holding technical roles that include Storage Engineer, Developer, Project Manager, and Infrastructure Architect.
Eric studied Business Administration at Indiana University while he was active duty in the Air Force. After 4 years of serving his country, he moved to Fort Lauderdale, Florida and worked in the financial industry as a day trader before starting his own IT consulting company. Realizing Information Technology was his true passion, Eric moved to Atlanta to follow the growing opportunities within this field.
