Challenge
The client suspected a SIM warehousing scheme involving network abuse and service theft. Investigation revealed that the company operating the SIM warehouse was leveraging backend SIM swapping to support the scheme. The operation involved selling routers at high monthly prices to customers, bundling 10,000 SIMs for approximately 100,000 customers. A teardown of customer-provided routers uncovered root shell access and evidence of SIM spoofing.
Solution
Through extensive analysis and a hardware penetration test, ivision provided the client with concrete evidence of how their services were being stolen, enabling them to take preventative measures against future theft.
