Atlanta Braves Grow with Long-Standing IT Partner

"Leveraging the cloud for infrastructure and as an application platform makes sense for us. iVision gives us vendor-agnostic advice and helps us validate our plans."

Greg Gatti
VP of Information Technology,  Atlanta Braves

Leading the National League East in their third season at SunTrust Park, the Atlanta Braves performance on the field has led to an influx of spectators taking advantage of all the stadium has to offer. As the business continues to grow, so will the expectations for IT.

When the Braves relocated from their old home at Turner Field, their IT team decided to adopt a service provider model. Greg Gatti, CIO of the Braves, worked with iVision on building solutions to serve the more than six million fans who visit SunTrust Park each year. The Braves went through a significant number of security audits as they grew from a Level 3 to Level 1 Payment Card Industry (PCI) service provider. iVision was a valued partner to Gatti’s team through all of those audits as they worked together to qualify the new network design and security environment.

Gatti sees iVision as a valued partner because of their shared long-term vision and ability to constantly adapt and grow with a changing environment. “What I really admire about iVision is they’ll tell me when they can do something, when they can do it well and then when I contract with them to do it, they live up to that commitment,” says Gatti. “By the same token, if iVision can’t do something well, they’ll tell me that.”

When problems arise, iVision and the Braves have honest communication and work together to their mutual benefit. The long-term commitment and investment in the partnership has fostered a great deal of trust between the organizations. Gatti explains, “We have to talk to valued partners like iVision to validate some of the long-term plans we have and some of the investments we want to make.”

The Atlanta Braves are already looking toward the future – specifically the 2021 All Star Game, which the MLB recently announced the Braves will be hosting at SunTrust Park in 2021. For Gatti, that means a long off-season of planning and a lot of help from valued partners like iVision.
