A thorough IT roadmap charts a detailed course for a company’s migration to a hybrid-cloud data center.
COMPANY: Privately held real estate investment firm operating globally and managing invested capital of more than $200 billion and properties valued at $450 billion.
PROJECT: IT Roadmap
As a data center lease neared expiration, the company wanted to assess whether moving some of its data center operations to a cloud-based data center could help improve data capabilities and mitigate risk.
iVision assembled a cross-practice team of engineers with expertise in data centers, converged networks, infrastructure, application development and business processes to analyze pros and cons. The team determined the company could boost efficiency and improve data management and maintenance by moving to a “hybrid” data center infrastructure that used both traditional and cloud-based platforms. Then they mapped out a timeline and estimated costs for the transformation.
By following iVision’s IT roadmap, which planned down to the specific hardware requirements, the company was able scope out exactly what it would take to migrate to a new, hybrid data center. The client was so pleased with the detailed IT roadmap, it enlisted iVision to do much of the work required to turn the planned data center transformation into a reality.
